The Looking-Glass Bottle
Project Sponsored by Eastman Chemical
This project was sponsored by Eastman Chemical to generate ideas for a new refillable or reusable cosmetic product packaging system that will reduce was and stimulate adoption in the cosmetics market.
Design Brief
Generate ideas for a new refillable or reusable packaging design for cosmetic products that will help to stimulate adoption in the market
Design Criteria
Understanding the problems
Unique Design
The design should be unique and distinct from current cosmetic packaging in the cosmetic market.
Many serum bottles lack unique designs that separate them from their competitors. They all have very similar silhouettes. Luxury cosmetics should make the user stand out from the crowd.
Refillable
Introduce a refill option for luxury serums
Many serum cosmetic products lack viable or well known refill options to improve environmental friendliness. These refill options should also only be usable with their corresponding housing.
Showcase Materials
Showcase Eastman Copolyesters and their desirable qualities
Eastman Chemical Copolyesters, especially Cristal, demonstrate very desirable qualities for cosmetics packaging. These include thick walls, high-precision molding abilities, and glass-like appearance.
